Handphone is started use on 1970
with microprocessor for communication technology. on 1971, network handphone
opened at Finlandia named ARP. Then NMT at Skivandia on 1981 and AMPS on 1983.
The weakness employing of the first analog technology are trafic capacity is small, just some of
user can patched in one cell, and used of frequent spectrum is wasful. NMT or
Nordic Mobile Telephone is the first analog network handphone used according
international at North Europe. This network operated on 450 MHz (NMT-450) and
900 MHz (NMT-900).
And then apeear 2G technology. This
generation are IS-95 CDMA, IS-136 TDMA and PDC. The second generation have
usedvoice communication, SMS (Short Message Service) and transmitting data with
maximum velocity 9600 bps (bit per second). The excess of 2G are service is
better than 1G and the capacity is bigger than 1G because one frequent can used
by some of users with TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) mechanism.
Standard technology of 2G is the
most used is GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication). GSM started on 1982.
The uniqueness of GSM is SMS service. SMS is the two way service for send short
messageas many 160 characters.
After 2G, appeared 2,5G generation
that haved transmitting data skill better than 2G generation. 2,5G generation
famous with GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE.
And then appeared 3G generation is
the newest technology on development of cellular that famous with UMTS
(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) or WCDMA (Wideband Coded Division
Multiple Access). The excess of 3G is the velocity of transmitting data
achieved 384 kbps on outdoor and 2 mbps on indoor. This generation supplied
multimedia service. Initially this technology used CDMA technology is from USA
military technology. Wireless communication system based on CDMA first used on
1995. The value of users is growing rapidly in each years. The excess of 3G
sytem is the velocity of transmitting data or the high of bit rate. With 3G,
cheap communication cost and quality is not only dream.
